DENZA goes global with 'Technology Drives Elegance'

08 April 2026   DENZA, the premium technology-oriented automotive brand of the BYD Group, has been officially launched as a worldwide brand with a spectacular event in Paris and confirmed its first global models: the Z9GT and D9 DM-i.

In a fusion of architectural heritage and cutting-edge engineering, DENZA has officially announced its arrival in overseas markets beyond China. A landmark event, held under the gilded ceilings of the historic Palais Garnier in Paris, served as the stage for the brand’s global premiere, introducing a new era of sophisticated electric mobility to the continent’s most discerning drivers.

Under the guiding philosophy of ‘Technology Drives Elegance’, DENZA’s entrance marks a significant shift in the European premium-car landscape. Inspired by the ability of innovation to improve people's lives and solely devoted to new-energy powertrains (EV and DM plug-in hybrid) DENZA strives to redefine premium through technology-led features – from record-breaking recharge speeds to dual-motor independent rear-wheel steering that allows new levels of manoeuvrability.

DENZA’s worldwide journey begins with two flagship models that cater to very different, yet equally demanding, lifestyles: the DENZA Z9GT and the DENZA D9.

As a flagship shooting brake, available as both an EV and a Super Hybrid DM, the Z9GT challenges the status quo of performance grand tourers. It combines the sleek, aggressive silhouette of a sports car with the practical elegance of a wagon. Powered by DENZA’s most advanced tri-motor system, the Z9GT delivers breathtaking acceleration (0-62mph in 2.7secs in the EV version) and agility, along with independent rear-wheel steering that allows previously impossible dynamic feats like compass U-turns and 'crab walks' through narrow spaces.

Its in-car technologies include a huge 50-inch augmented-reality head-up display, a 17.3-inch central infotainment system that ‘floats’ in front of the fascia, and a pair of additional 13.2-inch screens – one for the driver's instrument panel and the other to allow the front passenger to interact with entertainment.

The DENZA D9 DM-i brings new-energy elegance to the premium MPV segment, with the capacity for seven 180cm-tall adults, seven 20-inch carry-on suitcases and seven business backpacks. Its DM-i powertrain delivers all-wheel drive, 130 miles* of pure-electric range and a combined range, on a full charge and a full tank of petrol, of 590 miles*, making it the ultimate first-class MPV for use around town and on long journeys.

Both vehicles benefit from DENZA's partnership with premium French audio specialist Devialet. The resulting set-ups (20 speakers in the Z9GT, 16 speakers in the D9) use the latest in audio technology, coupled with the power of Dolby Atmos®, to place sounds precisely around the cabin, deliver greater detail, clarity and sound separation. The resulting immersion unlocks new levels of emotion and brings consumers closer to the content they love.

And the two new models, like all DENZAs, will spearhead the introduction of FLASH Charging across Europe. With up to 1500kW of power, FLASH Charging is based on BYD's 2nd Generation Blade Battery and delivers the promise of 'Ready in 5, Full in 9, Cold Add 3' – namely, 10%-70% recharges in five minutes, 10%-97% in nine minutes and, even in -30°C, 20% to 97% in just 12 minutes. BYD used the Paris event to confirm plans for 6000 FLASH Charging Stations outside China within the next 12 months, including 3000 in Europe.

DENZA's initial rollout in Europe will be in Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the UK, but the brand will spread quickly across the continent, with a presence planned in at least 30 countries by the end of the year. This network will comprise at least 150 retail stores by the end of 2026. In Latin America, meanwhile, retail stores are already in place in Brazil and Mexico, allowing the first customers to place their orders for new DENZA models.

By combining the engineering scale of BYD Group with a bespoke, premium DNA and customer experience, DENZA is ready to represent a formidable step forward in the adoption of new-energy sustainable mobility.
